Destination Overview

Morocco, in Arabic "Al Maghreb" meaning the setting sun, is the furthest land west of the Arab world. Located in the North of Africa, Morocco is at the junction of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. With evidence of presence of Homo erectus (at least 200,000 years ago) Morocco's history has been rich and tumultuous. The Berbers, descendents of the original inhabitants, where fierce warriors and where notoriously difficult to subdue. Invasions from the Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals, Byzantines and Arabs have contributed to the variety of today's Morocco. You will experience the dazzling mosaic of African, Arab and Berber cultures with a touch of Western influences. You will see beautiful landscapes and incredible color contrasts that have inspired many painters and poets. You will visit Imperial cities that were capitals of the Arab world and where science and culture was at its peek while Europe was still feudal.
