Destination Overview
Macau is rich in Chinese and western cultures and classic and avant-garde architecture amid a relatively small place in the world. It is located on the southeastern coast of China. There are many casinos here which is why it is also called an oriental Monte Carlo. Many events take place every year such as the Grand Prix, Dragon Boat Festival, International Fireworks Festival and Music Festival. You will see the charm of the Chinese and Portuguese heritages embraced in arrays of modernized architecture. As a result of more than 400 years of exchange of Eastern and Western cultures, Macau has numerous historical remains to discover. All that remains of the greatest of Macau's churches is its magnificent stone façade and grand staircase. St. Paul's was built in 1602 but was gutted in 1835. It is now the landmark of Macau. 1-1
