000(40) - WHITE WATER RAFTING ADVENTURE

In the winter, Colorado is a picture-perfect snowy wonderland. In the spring and summer, as the snow melts and runs down the mountains, Colorados rivers and streams become roaring torrents of water ideal for thrill-seekers. There are few outdoor adventures that compare to the thrill of riding a bucking boat past rocks, over sinkholes and down shallow water falls.

The Arkansas River, considered one of the top rafting rivers in the United States, offers nonstop thrills for those willing to brave its waters! Between various rapids on the river, there are places of quiet water where you can catch your breath and enjoy beautiful mountain scenery, eagles and hawks soaring overhead, and an occasional deer stopping for a drink of water.

We will drive past the Ft.Carson army base and head through the Cheyenne Mountain foothills to rendezvous at the rafting office. Here, you can change into rafting clothes (swim suits or shorts and sneakers) and also rent wet suits and foot gear (highly recommended). You can choose a paddle boat (you help paddle and steer the boat through the rapids with instruction from your guide) or an oar boat (you simply hang on for the ride) for the ten-mile trip.

After rafting, you’ll enjoy an al fresco lunch at rustic picnic tables before heading back to "The Springs". You’ll surely have lots of stories to share with friends.

Lunch included bring a light jacket, water and rafting apparel (or rent it for an additional cost).
