Breathing taking vistas of glacier-carved Mt. Rainier, waterfalls and alpine meadows await you on this 9 hour day trip. You’ll travel from Seattle along the Chinook Pass Scenic Byway passing by old growth forests, towering mountain peaks, spectacular views of Mt. Rainier as well as numerous streams, lakes, and waterfalls. Delving into the Northeast side of Mt. Rainier National Park, we’ll also visit Tipsoo Lake, a spot of tranquility surrounded by wildflowers.
Our journey will start with a visit to Crystal Mountain, a world-class summer and winter ski resort which boasts the only mountain gondola in Washington. Take a ride up the Mt. Rainier Gondola to its summit, the highest in the region standing 6,872 feet above sea level. (Gondola ride available beginning June 16th. From May 1st to June 15th, the tour will go to Mt. Rainier National Park and visit the info center in place of the gondola).Take a moment and simply absorb the beauty of Mt. Rainier but don’t forget to take a few pictures for those back home.
After you’ve taken in the world-class views that can only be offered from this view point, Gray Line suggests that you join one of the guided nature hikes offered at no extra charge. If you wish you can simply venture off on your own and take advantage of the various hiking trails available for your pleasure. Crystal Mountain offers various luncheon options from a boxed lunch, a gourmet barbecue to the popular Summit Restaurant which offers panoramic views of Mt. After your amazing adventure to Crystal Mountain, you’ll complete your day with scenic views and photo stops along the Chinook Pass Scenic Byway while enroute back to Seattle. Upon your return to Seattle your driver / guide will drop you off at your hotel.
