Five Great Things to do on Vacation

It’s time for you to start thinking about your next vacation.

Because let’s face it, you deserve it. Whether you’re defrosting from a particularly cold winter or working so hard that you haven’t seen your family in months, everyone could use a little time off. If you need some inspiration for your next trip, here are five great things you can do on vacation.

1. Sample the Local Delicacies

Savoring local delights and spirits is definitely a great thing to do while on vacation, even if you’re on a shoestring budget. Try the best of what the destination has to offer, whether it’s Langsat in Southeast Asia, wine tasting in Buenos Aires or grabbing a bite of good ol’ American pizza in New York City.

2. Creative Photography

Nothing says “boring” like a million pictures of you standing in front of tourist attractions with a beauty queen smile. Get creative. Wear a giant banana suit, leap into the air with your two best friends or do a simple but amazing jig like Dancing Matt. Who knows, Stride gum might even sponsor you.

3. Take a Break

While you may be tempted to pack your days full of adventure and activities (perhaps even a Gray Line tour) never underestimate the rejuvenating power of an afternoon siesta. Steal an eye-mask and a pair of earplugs from your flight, find the nearest hammock and nap like your long-term health depended on it. Because truth be told, it does.

4. Read a Literary Classic

There are so many amazing books in the world that you can’t possibly read them all. But you can certainly try. It doesn’t matter if you’re into romantic fiction or the evolution of fire ants in Borneo, be sure to pick up that book you’ve always wanted to read. Looking for reading suggestions? 5. Be Happy

Taking a vacation is one of life’s purest pleasures. It is easy to get wrapped up in your work, your to-do list and saving money for a future goal that may never come to fruition. But five years from now, you will not remember your to-do list, but instead that vacation where you took time to eat, drink, sleep and be merry.
