DENVER, Colorado – 30 August, 2012 – Another banner year for Gray Line has been celebrated at the Annual Meeting and Marketing Conference—this time in beautiful Paris, France. Five days of seminars, events, incredible speakers and reconnecting with old friends in one of the most beautiful cities on earth was a complete and utter success.
The 2012 Annual Meeting and Marketing Conference is an opportunity for Gray Line's outstanding group of global licensees to gather in behalf of the oldest name in sightseeing, and discuss new ideas to propel Gray Line into the future of the industry. One of the most anticipated events at each conference is the presentation of the 2012 Gray Line Awards to a distinguished group of licensees who have gone above and beyond for the Gray Line brand.
This year, Gray Line London was honored with the Diamond Award, which recognizes the company who made the largest positive impact on the global organization through its commitment to the Gray Line mission. "We feel privileged to be a part of this global organization and to be recognized for our continual promotion of the brand," said Nick Palan, owner of Golden Tours and Gray Line London.
The Branding Achievement Award was presented to Gray Line Munich, whose Division Manager, Joachim Kern, expressed his excitement saying "What a wonderful experience to be presented with this award—our organization strives for excellence and to promote the Gray Line brand within our market and beyond."
Gray Line New York's impressive social media presence was recognized by the aptly named Social Media Guru Award, for the company whose online presence places the brand one step ahead of the competition. David W. Chien, Gray Line New York's Director of Marketing, noted that "Our social media efforts are truly a focus of our marketing efforts—we are honored to be recognized as the guru in the field!"
As a way to recognize new members of the Gray Line family, at each convention a Newcomer Award is given to the company who has shown an immediate and impressive dedication to adopting the brand. The General Manager of this year's winner, Ignacio Casanova Hausmann from Gray Line Spain, said "We are so excited to have this award to display, and look forward to a long and rewarding relationship with Gray Line."
The "greenest" of Gray Lines is awarded with the Love your Mother (Earth) Award, and Gray Line Costa Rica's efforts have not gone unnoticed in that regard. "We strive to protect our planet while providing the highest level of service and excellent experiences to our customers," said Sergio Hidalgo Piedra, General Manager of Gray Line Costa Rica.
For their much-lauded Border Crisis: Fact or Fiction Tour, Gray Line Tucson was awarded the Most Creative Tour Award. Tom Morgan, Jr., Gray Line Tucson's CEO, said "Our staff put a lot of heart and soul into this tour, and we are extremely proud to be recognized for its innovation and individuality."
Fernando Barbachano, owner of Gray Line Cancun, accepted his company's Most Creative Promotion Award for its Sunset Cruise promotional offering, saying "In Cancun, we strive for organizational excellence from top to bottom, and to push the envelope with new ideas. This promotion is the perfect example of that dedication."
An individual recognition via the President's Award went to Craig Smith, CEO of Gray Line Washington, D.C., for his personal devotion to promoting the Gray Line Brand. "I could not be more proud to accept this award—working to represent such an iconic brand has been an honor."
