Plateau Mont-Royal is the home of the Quebec Conservatory of Music in Montreal, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and many theaters. 6. Shop ’til you drop at Jean-Talon Market

The Jean-Talon Market is a vibrant and bustling hub of activity that immerses all your senses. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by the mouth-watering aroma of fresh produce, spices, and baked goods. The farmers’ market, one of the largest in North America, is a treasure trove of locally-sourced fruits and vegetables, some of which you may have never seen before. The vendors are friendly and more than happy to let you sample their wares before you buy. As you stroll through the market, you'll be able to find a variety of unique souvenirs and gifts. From handmade crafts to vintage clothes, there's something for everyone, and it’s surrounded by excellent cafés and restaurants. The vendors are quite skilled in bargaining, so be prepared to haggle for a good deal.

7. Stroll through Montréal Botanical Garden

One of the most important botanic gardens in the world, Montréal Botanical Garden is a true feast for the senses. As you wander through the winding paths, you'll be able to see brightly colored flowers, towering trees and delicate butterflies fluttering around. It's a perfect place for families to enjoy together, children can run through the fields of wildflowers and explore the different sections of the garden, such as the Chinese, Japanese and First Nations Gardens.

8. Try some traditional Poutine

Poutine is one of the most famous Canadian dishes, and it's probably the best French fries you’ll ever taste. Most restaurants in the city will serve the dish fries, cheese curds and gravy. Poutine used to be mocked by other Canadians but now it has become an iconic Québécois meal. It’s not the healthiest of dishes but it is delicious.

9. See a show at the Place des Arts

If you're a lover of music, theatre, or dance, then you're sure to find a performance that will delight you at the Place des Arts. This is the largest arts center in Canada and the hub of Montréal’s cultural scene. The Place des Arts is also home to several of the city's most well-known theaters, Montréal Symphony Orchestra and L’Opéra de Montréal.
