Tour Overview
Our Boone Hall Plantation tour is the perfect glimpse into the history of one of the oldest working plantations in America. Just a quick 30 minutes outside of Charleston, the Boone Hall Plantation is located in the town of Mount Pleasant. We will enter the property through the beautiful Avenue of Oaks, with its massive, overhanging branches. You will begin with a 30 minute guided tour of the plantation with a local expert, diving into the history, lifestyle, and hardships that residents of this plantation went through.

Following the guided tour, the rest of the time is yours to explore this historic mansion. Enjoy a self-guided tour through the original slave cabins and learn about the African American experience with a presentation from our knowledgeable guides. Also, feel free to check out the snack bar with sandwiches, salads, and some refreshments! There are a number of activities and options that you may partake in throughout your time at the Boone Hall Plantation. We recommend reservations in advance as there is limited availability for the following:

  • "Exploring the Gullah Culture”
  • Plantation Coach Tour
  • Black History in America Exhibit
  • Slave Street and History Presentation
  • Garden Tour
  • Butterfly Pavilion

  • We will be back in Charleston by mid afternoon so that you have the rest of the evening to enjoy your time in our lovely city.

Very interesting from a historical perspective. The fact that the house dated only to 1935 a bit of a let down. Gullah presentation stellar.
