Admire the spectacular views of Lake Windermere, as you make your way through the narrow country lanes that criss–cross this scenic landscape. We continue to the medieval village of Hawkshead with its quaint alleyways. On our way to Coniston Water where we will enjoy a lake cruise, we pass Tarn Hows, a picturesque beauty spot and cross the Yew Tree Valley keeping our eyes open for the local roe deer. On our return to Windermere we have a photo stop at Yew Tree Farm which was the setting for the film, Miss Potter.

A lovely day trip with varied activities.

Again very hard to do in February 2016 when the tour was taken in April 2015. I should have received this email in April 2015 at the time of taking the tour.

I enjoyed the tour and found it well organized and on time, and it included an abundance of interesting activities.

The Lake District is my favorite place in England. It's especially nice when someone else is driving so one can enjoy the gorgeous scenery. This was my second tour to the Lake District with Gray Line services. We stopped at Wray Castle before making our way to Hill Top. We then had plenty of time to visit Beatrix Potter's former home and gardens. Lunch was found in nearby Hawkshead, though the many shops were too tempting not to visit. Lunch could wait. On to the lake cruise on Windmere. Even though it was October it was a lovely ride and not too chilly. Our patient and skilled coach driver and tour guide, Peter Fox, was absolutely wonderful- even stopping so I could get a closer look at the Belted Galway cows along the road. Such is the nature of small group travel. This was the highlight of my recent visit to England
