  • The Royal Monastery of El Escorial is an architectural complex built in the 16th century. Is a ‘must see’ to visit the Hapsburg Royal Palace, the Kings and Princes Mausoleum and the Basilica. All built following the Renaissance style.
  • The Valley of the Fallen was built to commemorate the combatants who died during the Spanish Civil War. The Basílica de la Santa Cruz del Valle de los Caídos is carved into the mountain.

The arrangements were good but the commentary seemed skant. The Spanish version was lengthy but the English version very short in comparison.

Our guide was well informed and gave us background information and history which helped us to understand what we were seeing. Her command of the English language was excellent making her easy to understand.

Good tour overall. On,y about 16 people on the tour so llenty of spacd on the bus. Guide easy to understand but was translating into 3 languages, not 2 as described. A bit rushed around El Escorial, would have liked maybe another 30 minutes here.
