Pick up was on time in lovely clean transport by a very very friendly and helpful guide. Our journey to Chichen Itza was quick and comfortable even though the weather was very stormy. When we arrived at the destination everything was well organised and we began in the mayaland hotel which is absolutely beautiful. Buying tickets for the ruins was a little confusing but we managed. We were also given our stickers for our lunch pass. We met up with another group to split into those who wanted the tour in Spanish and those who wanted it in english. The guide who took us for the English tour was not the best English speaker so I feel that we did miss out on quite a bit of information at times but overall he was ok and used pictures to enhance our experience. The tour was a good pace and included everything we wanted to see. After the tour we had lunch which was amazing and included multiple different cuisines, fresh fruit and a variety of desserts. Drinks weren't included but were reasonably priced. We were entertained at lunch by mayan dancers which was really nice and a lovely addition to the day. After this we had time to explore the mayaland hotel. We could use the pool which, although we didn't go in due to the slight bit of rain, was gorgeous! We explored the grounds of the hotel and its botanical gardens and got lots of lovely photos. We could also go back to the ruins if we wanted but we didn't. The hotel also has a few shops including a mayan chocolate shop and a couple of souvenir shops and a café so we used our time to explore these. At 3.15pm we met our guide in the car park and transferred onto a bus that was going to cancun (also with Gray Line). This bus was a little less comfortable but was still fine and most people managed to have a nap on the way home. The journey took quite a while but we were dropped off directly at the door of our hotel in cancun after a really lovely day. The ruins are definitely not to be missed!
