Rückl Crystal Glass Factory Nizbor Tour From Prague

4 Hours

Price Breakdown:

Glass is a typical Czech product and a number of glass factories can be found throughout the Czech Republic. The most famous factory is situated close to Prague. In less than one hour, you will travel from Prague to one of the most famous Czech glass factories. It is located in Nizbor on the Berounka River (a tributary to the Vltava river) and is connected to a 300-year-long tradition of glass making.

On this tour, you will learn about all stages of glass production including glass-blowing, painting, crackling and cutting. You'll also learn about the whole history and contemporary period of glass production in Bohemia. During this excursion, visitors will get to know the individual stages of producing glass crystal by hand, i.e. the furnaces, processing, designing and polishing. At the end of the tour you can visit the company store, which is on the grounds of the glassworks. The Rückl Crystal glassworks in Nižbor manufactures an extensive range of cut 24% leaded crystal in a wide variety of decorations from the simple to extremely complex and laborious decorations with gilt, hand painting and sandblasting. The company was chosen for the production and supply of official state gifts due to the very high quality of its products and services.

The driver was great he didn't speak good English but was very pleasant and pointed us in the right direction making sure we also received our complimentary gift from Ruckl Crystal.Absolutely brilliant tour the tour guide couldn't have been any better spoke brilliant English and provided us with in depth information about how the crystal etc is formed and the full process from start to finish. The driver then offered to drop us back to the hotel as we where the only two people on the tour which we were greatly appreciative for.Would strongly recommend this tour if you have any interest in learning about how crystal is made.
