Itinerary

Part 1 - Salt Mines:

Ideal for all ages, this tour will show you the value of ´white gold´ in an adventure deep into the salt mines! Ride the miner´s train, slip down the miner´s slide or travel across a salt lake on a raft! Beginning in Salzburg, we pass by the Hellbrunn Palace area on our way to the salt mines. Before entering the mine, you are provided with protective clothing that makes you look like an authentic miner. Then you travel on a former miner's train into the heart of the mountain. Once inside this remarkable underground world, our knowledgeable and local guide will amaze you with tales of the ancient salt mining history, its uses and the transportation methods. Further into the cave you enjoy a ride down original miner slides – great fun for all ages. Later enjoy another astonishing experience with a raft across a salt lake. Finally after touring these enchanting underground labyrinths we return to the outside world on the same train. This unique underground world is fun and interesting for all ages and an experience not to be missed!

Part 2 Lakes and Mountains:

Allow us to enchant you with the 'land of music'. Travelling through Hof and Fuschl in the lakes region, we make a brief stop in St. Gilgen (the birthplace of Mozart's mother) before continuing to the nearby village of St. Wolfgang. Here you will find extraordinary beauty in abundance, plus a local church with its famous and unique 15th Century raised altar, by Michael Pacher. The Weiße Rössl Hotel, the well-known setting for a famous operetta 'Im Weissen Rössl' is also in St. Wolfgang. Enjoy picturesque scenes during the return trip as we pass by Lake Krottensee, Hüttenstein Castle, the shoreline of Lake Mondsee and the town of Mondsee, with its famous old monastery. You will also have a chance to enjoy a boat trip across the Wolfgangsee Lake from May to October, from November to April incl. coffee and cake.

Very good tour to the salt mines in the morning and then the lakes and mountains in the afternoon. The tour guide was very serious, not much personality and he wasn't aware that we were doing both tours, so we got off the coach at the end of the morning tour, only to be told to get on the same coach for the afternoon tour. It would have been nicer if he had told us we could stay on the coach.
