Very poor experience with booking our two tours in San Francisco. One tour (Monterey, Carmel and Aquarium Tour) allowed us to book in advance on one particular day, but when we arrived for our trip at the local Gray Line office, we were told that the tour doesn't run on the day we were booked for and there is no tour??. What was just as bad was that we had informed Gray Line that we would like a hotel pickup for this tour but it never turned up. We had confirmation with Gray Line that they would pick us up from our hotel but nobody turned up for the 8:40am slot that was given to us. We had to phone the local office and they told us that there had been a mistake with our booking and we had to run two blocks in a rush to meet our tour bus. Then after an awful rush we arrived at the Gray Line office and they told us the tour didn't even exist on the day we had been booked for? This caused us a huge amount of stress and confusion. We were only in Francisco for a few days and it was so important for us to have a couple of particular tours booked because there were particular things like the Monterey Aquarium that we wanted to see. Everything was messed up by the booking process and systems involved. We were offered another tour later in the week but we were flying home before that day. This meant that we missed all the things we were so looking forward to do. Later that day we did manage to hire a rental car from another company (at substantially more cost to us) to salvage some of day but our day had already been ruined. The staff were all very kind and none of this was their fault. The staff gave us a refund for our trip but we were left without what we had paid for and having to reorganize our whole day and weeks itinerary. The whole process and systems around our booking are at fault here and it wasn't the staff.On the second day we had another tour pre-booked (Ultimate San Francisco City and Muir Woods Tour). Unfortunately this tour again was spoilt by the very poor booking process and organization of our trip. Our tour was advertised as a full day tour lasting around 8-9 hours. When we arrived for our tour (again we had to make our way to the office becuase our Hotel Pickup didn't arrive?) we were told that our tour was split in two with two different tours/drivers and buses. There was a break between the tours of nearly 2.5 hours where we had to make our own plans and there was no visit to the Chinese tea gardens for dinner. This was all very disappointing and very confusing. The tour didn't reflect the information and itinerary that we had paid for. We reluctantly now took both of the tours and were again very disappointed. Other than the our visit Muir Woods, half of the itinerary for both the tours repeated each other. This meant that in total we had two trips across the the Golden Gate Bridge and look at the The Palace of Fine Arts. So much of our day was wasted doing the same things, having to organize our own transport to the Gray Line office and our own lunch time. Although both our tour guides were fantastic hosts and drivers it was very upsetting for us and not their fault because they were just doing there job and what they were told to do.Bottom line is that we were sold two products that didn't reflect what we had paid for. The whole process was awful and put our short trip to San Francisco in turmoil. We had to organize so many things ourselves and experienced so much miss communication.We would sincerely like someone to recognize the awful experience we have had. We would appreciate some compensation for all the hassle and disruption this caused our holiday but we would not want to book another trip with your company. We also hope that this information will help your company rectify theses mistakes and not let it happen to any future travelers who book your tours. Again we must stress that none of this reflected on the staff that we encountered face to face because they were fantastic. The problems all stemmed from the processes and systems surrounding them. In our opinion the staff and us have been severely let down by this.We look forward to your response.Regards Mr John Briddick
