The best of two worlds in one tour! Gray Line DCs Two Day Grand Tour combines a Hop-on-Hop-off city tour of Washington DC with the Old Town Alexandria and Mount Vernon Tour.
Included in the tour is a one-day pass on one of Washington DCs premier Hop-on-Hop-off operators. The tour provides you with unlimited access to the service from 9 am to 5 pm, allowing you the flexibility to explore the Nation's Capital at your leisure. The Hop-on-Hop-off Tour includes 16 stops at some of the Capitals' main attractions, such as; Ford's Theatre, the White House, Lincoln Monument, and the Jefferson Memorial.
On the second day, you will enjoy your half-day excursion to Old Town Alexandria and George Washington's Mount Vernon. Your journey begins as you board your luxury motor coach for a day filled with American history dating back to the American Colonial Era. Once onboard, we will depart the Nation's Capital for the State of Virginia, where you will begin your adventure with a visit to Old Town Alexandria!
Dating back to the early 1700s, Old Town Alexandria played a significant role in early American history. However, it is mostly known for being the adopted hometown of America's first President, George Washington. Gray Line will provide an in-depth overview of the town's historical facts, show you its cobblestoned streets lined with historic buildings. We will visit Christ Church, where both George Washington and Robert E. Lee, had regularly attended services.
After exploring Old Town Alexandria, we will depart for George Washington's Mount Vernon. The 10-mile journey to George Washington's former estate will take you along the scenic Potomac River, where you will learn the importance it had during the era, all while viewing some of the regions' scenery and sites like the 200-year-old Fort Washington.
Once at Mount Vernon, you will gain access to the estate. The entrance onto the grounds of Mount Vernon includes a host of colonial-era buildings, beautiful gardens, and a working distillery and gristmill. The estate's Museum and Education Center feature hundreds of artifacts, movies, a 4D theater, and an interactive theater that introduces visitors to the real George Washington.
Please note that due to social distancing guidelines set forth by the CDC, at the moment Mount Vernon has currently discontinued the Mansion Tour for the time being. We will attempt to provide updates when new developments occur however you're more than welcome to contact Gray Line DC to obtain the most recent update as to when the Mansion Tours will restart.
