Fly from Tel Aviv Airport to Eilat and cross the border. Drive through the Jordanian desert, passing the rock formations of Wadi Rum. A short horse-ride leads to the Siq, a narrow canyon through the mountains into Petra and the Treasury which suddenly appears at the end of the gorge, leaving visitors breath-taken by its size, colour and beauty. Continue into the heart of the city carved into the mountains, passing ancient rock tombs, monuments and the Amphitheatre. After lunch, drive to Aqaba for a short city tour, then through the border and back to the airport for flight to Tel Aviv Airport

If you have a hat, it is advisable to take it with you as well as comfortable shoes for walking in Petra, which is mainly sandy/gravelly terrain. In winter months: Warm clothing should also be taken as it can get very cold. If not required, you can leave any extra clothing on the tour vehicle instead of having to carry it around with you.
