Gray Line Paris Insider Tips

Things to do in Paris
1. Make the most out of your time and take a Skip-the-Line Eiffel Tower Tour

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most famous landmarks in Paris, and it's a must-see for any first-time visitor. The tower is visible from across the city and was built to celebrate the 1889 World's Fair. Famously, it was hated before construction began but very quickly became emblematic of the city once it was built, and was never torn down as planned. With long lines, it can be hard to climb the Eiffel Tower in a timely manner. That's why a Skip-the-Line Eiffel Tower Tour is a great option. This allows you to make the most out of your time and see panoramic views from the tower without having to wait.

2. Take a stroll down the Champs-Elysées

The Champs-Elysées is one of the most famous streets in Paris, possibly the most beautiful in the world, and is perfect for a leisurely stroll. It’s more than a mile long and 230 feet wide. A fashionable avenue for centuries, you'll be able to see incredible old buildings, buy souvenirs in high-end shops, and admire the Arc de Triomphe. It's the perfect place for a taste of Parisian culture and shopping.

3. Visit the Louvre Museum

The Louvre Museum is one of the most famous museums in the world, if not the most famous. It is the home of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo, as well as huge collections of Egyptian antiquities, Greek and Roman art and Islamic crafts. The palace which holds the museum was started in the 12th century and is a beautiful sight in its own right. The iconic Louvre Pyramid was added in 1988. Be prepared to spend a whole day there — at 782,910 square feet and with 38,000 works to see, the Louvre is huge!

4. Take a boat ride on the Seine River

The subject of much beautiful art, the Seine River flows through the center of Paris and a boat ride is one of the best ways to take in the sights. You'll see all the main landmarks and attractions, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, from a different perspective while you relax.

Things to do in Paris
5. Take a trip to Montmartre

Montmartre is one of Paris’s most charming and historic neighborhoods. Located just outside of the city center, you'll be able to find unique shops, restaurants, and cafes. It’s famous for the artists who have called it home over the centuries and it's a great place to show the kids a funicular railway up the steep hill to the Place du Tertre, an incredibly beautiful square.

6. See a show at the Moulin Rouge

So famous, they made a movie about it. The Moulin Rouge is one of the most iconic cabaret shows in the world. Whether you're a fan of music, dance, or burlesque, you're sure to find a show you’ll love under the notorious red windmill. Be prepared to pay a premium for tickets, catching a show at the Moulin Rouge doesn't come cheap.

7. Wander through the Marais

One of the most historic districts in Paris, the Marais is a charming and trendy neighborhood located just north of the city center. The area is home to some of the most beautiful buildings in the city and Paris’s Jewish and Chinese communities. You'll find unique shops, the best restaurants and cafes, and incredible museums, such as the Musée Picasso as you stroll through its fashionable streets.

Things to do in Paris
8. Take a hop-on hop-off bus tour

A hop-on hop-off bus tour is one of the best ways to take in the sights when visiting Paris. It's a convenient and flexible way to explore the city, allowing you to hop on and off at any of the stops along the route to explore some more. You'll see all the main landmarks and sights, and it's great for a leisurely tour of the city. Plus, you get to see the city from the top floor of our iconic buses.

Things to do in Paris
9. Try some traditional French cuisine

French cuisine is one of the most delicious in the world, and Paris is home to some of its best chefs. Almost any restaurant in the city will serve French food, and it's a fantastic way to experience the local culture. Whether it’s a croissant or pain au chocolat and café au lait for breakfast, a croque monsieur or salade Niçoise for lunch, and boeuf Bourguignon or salmon en papillote paired with delicious French wine for dinner, you’re sure to love the food — and maybe put on a few pounds.

Excellent tour by Anne. She was knowledgeable about the history. She made sure all participants were always in the group as ususally there are 1 or 2 who like to drift off. Excelllent, excellent.
