Marcus and our wonderful driver and host made this tour even more special than two beautiful palaces and an amazing alpine village. We got to learn so much about Bavaria while traveling on a very comfortable bus. Thank you

There is really two different things to rate here. One is the attractions you see Linderhof, the town and the castle. The other is Grey Line themselves as they don't provide the tours at the attraction. The premium tour bus was much nicer and had far less people. I believe the standard tour had 70 to 77 people on the bus. We easily had half that and a few seats were empty. The seats were comfortable free snacks like fruit, bags of chips and chocolate were available the entire trip. Also coffee, water, and I think some other non-alcoholic choices too. On the way back they did offer beer. I don't think the standard tour offers any of that. The driver was great and the guide gave commentary during the drive about different things we passed and also the destinations. They were very organized and the guide got all our tickets when we arrived at the locations and provided specific instructions about entry and when to return. If you can, pay extra for this tour.As for the locations they are both very beautiful, Linderhof inside mainly. However, both tours are very short. Linderhof is very small inside so it doesn't take long to see all the rooms. Outside wasn't as impressive and since it was a cold April, there wasn't any landscaping. The outside gardens are probably nicer in late spring and summer. The area around Linderof was nice and we could still see snow on the mountains. There is about a 5 to 10 min walk to the Linderhof from where you get the tickets.I'm not sure why we stopped in Oberammergau. We only had 30 minutes there. It may have been due to a traffic delay leaving Munich, but I'm not sure what you'd do with even 45 minutes. The town is famous for the Passion Play which wasn't going on at the time. I didn't think the town was worth strolling through, but we didn't have the time anyway. There was a souvenir shop near where the bus parked and we did find somethings there for Neuschwanstein that we got for friends, family etc...Neuschwanstein is the main attraction of this tour. It is incredibly picturesque. It takes some work to get up to it and down. Based on time lines, I do it recommend walking it. We took the bus/shuttle for 3 euro a person up and 2 down. The horse and carriage took longer. There are several gift shops at the bottom where the tour bus parks and some restaurants too. In our scenario we didn't think we had enough time for a sit down restaurant (full of tourists), checking out the gift shops and making the shuttle up in time for our scheduled tour. So we grabbed a quick hotdog and looked at the shops. However you get up to the castle, you still will need to walk about 15 minutes or more if you go the bridge first for pictures. I highly recommend taking pictures from the bridge. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk UP HILL and it's usually crowed. You can get great pictures of the castle. When you are done at the bridge GO BACK THE WAY YOU CAME! If you continue across the bridge, you will start a hiking trail and not go to the castle.Go back the way you came and turn right and go down hill to the castle. To get back to the shuttle bus stop we had to walk back up from the castle to the stop. It wasn't fun. I'm not sure what was the other way as signage wasn't great. We then had to wait on a shuttle and we didn't get down at the expected time. Depending on the amount of tourist, the schedule can be tight. Neither Linderhof nor Neuschwanstein allowed pictures inside.
