GONG FACTORY
This is one of the few remaining gongsmiths. You can see gamelan instruments smelted over a charcoal fire by hand here - it takes two weeks to beat a copper gong into shape. A few pricey gongs and wayang golek puppets are on sale.


BOGOR BOTANICAL GARDENS
Located at the heart of Bogor, it is world class botanical gardens, covering an area of around 85 hectares. Officially opened by the Dutch in 1817, it was from these gardens that early researchers developed various crops such as tea, cassava, tobacco and cinchona. The park is still a major center for botanical research in Indonesia. In the northwest corner of the
gardens you can view the Presidential Summer Place that formerly was the official residence of the Dutch governors-general from 1870 to 1942.
