Heidiland & Liechtenstein Day Tour From Zurich

7.5 Hours

Price Breakdown:

Visit the incredible world of Heidi. It’s a world of mountains and valleys, alpine lakes and meadows, waterfalls, gorges, caves, and fascinating scenic reserves. After first completing a city tour of Zurich we will follow Lake Zurich to Rapperswil, the city of roses. We will visit the picturesque Old Town and its Medieval Castle. You will also have some free time to explore here.

After crossing the Ricken Pass with its panoramic views of the Alps we will reach the lovely Toggenburg region, whose pretty hills and valley scenery is the perfect photo opportunity! In Vaduz, the capital of the tiny principality of Liechtenstein, you will have more free tim. A visit to the post office is recommended; the famous stamps from this tiny state are coveted worldwide by philatelists and amateur stamp lovers alike.

Later we will arrive at Maienfeld, the setting for the Heidi stories. In the summer months you can visit Heidi’s village. A short walk leads to a collection of picturesque mountain houses, a village shop, and of course lots of little goats. Entry into the authentic Heidi House is optional. During winter season Heidi's village is closed. We will show you the oldest houses of Switzerland in Werdenberg, which is famous for its beautiful castle.

Finally, we will take a beautiful trip back to Zurich along the banks of Lake Walen, guarded by the majestic Churfirsten mountain range, ending your lovely, nostalgic Swiss tour.

We had a beautiful day and the drive through the mountains was stunning. I really enjoyed visiting Heidiland and would have loved to have my grandchildren with me. My husband was not as appreciative of the buildings, nature, animals, and history as I and many of the other guests were. Delightful tour.

The souvenirs with Heidi logo are attractive. The wooden dolls in Liechtenstein are lovely.

We were really happy to have found a tour that included both Heidiland and Liechtenstein. In addition to these places, we also had a tour of Zurich and another stop in the city of roses included. It was good value for our money.

We suggest this tour be modified to depart Zurich quickly and go directly to Rapperswil. Zurich inner city traffic is burdensome (it took the coach 30 minutes to get to the stop at Fraumunster). By mutual agreement of all of us, we skipped the planned stop at the university due to time concerns. As it was, the return to Zurich at the end of the day was about 40 minutes later than was estimated. The three stops outside of Zurich (Rapperswil, Vaduz, and Heididorf in Maienfeld) were all enjoyable places to visit, each in its own way. Personally, we would have liked to have had more time in Rapperswil, something that could seemingly be readily achieved by skipping the inner city stop(s) in Zurich and going directly to that first destination. It seems to us that the early focus on the city of Zurich, while our one stop was a good place to get an overview of the old town and the river, does not really fit the theme of this tour, which as we see it is to get out of the big city and experience several different regional highlights east of Zurich. For people interested in seeing more of the city of Zurich itself, it seems that there are other ways to do that. By the time we took this tour, we had explored much of the city center on our own.
