Learn and cook at a historic Mexican Huerta during our San Jose cooking class, where we will show you how to make a delicious homemade Mexican meal from fresh, organic ingredients. Our huerta dates back to the 19th century and sits on a very fertile plot of land that allows the freshest ingredients to be locally grown and sourced.

Tour Overview
Located in San Jose del Cabo only a mile away from the Estuary and five minutes away from downtown is a beautiful 17-acre estate devoted to developing the most rigorous agricultural process. Carefully selected seeds and chemical free crops are planted and cared for in our soil by expert hands, resulting in a harvest of unparalleled taste and freshness. A practice the founder and executive Chef Enrique Silva has created a culture of excellence and quality.

During this San Jose cooking class tour you will have the opportunity to tour the field, learn about the process of organically agriculture, receive a cooking class by one of Los Cabos top chefs and then enjoy a delicious lunch.

Upon arrival, we will meet under a large mango tree where you are offered fresh juice or iced tea. As this is a working organic farm with strict hygiene standards, you will be asked to wash and disinfect your hands before the tour begins. Baskets and scissors will be distributed for collecting produce from the field, and we will give you instructions on how to harvest your own ingredients.

As the tour continues to the field, our guide and agricultural engineer with vast experience as an organic farmer will point out different aromatic herbs and vegetables, demonstrating the proper way to pick each of them and explain what it takes to become a certified organic farm. We will show you how this differs from conventional farming, please feel to ask any and all questions that you may have!

From the field you will head up to the ranch house for a talk with Tamarindo's extraordinary chef. He will walk you through what the dish that you will be making from scratch, including techniques of traditional Mexican cooking. This is a hand-on-course but appropriate for chefs of all skill levels. You will have ample opportunity to ask questions as you cook, and will get to smell each of the different ingredients will be use to prepare the meal.

Once the dishes are completed you will enjoy the delicious lunch on the sunny outdoor terrace to wrap up your San Jose cooking class!
