From the beginning, the lack of communication was terrible. When you buy the ticket and arrive at the departure point, you aren't told until later that you won't be brought back to the departure spot, but will be left at 30 Rock at the end of the day.The tour guide we had was obviously a substitute, and was really odd and not very good. He didn't start talking about the various sites until we started to pass them, which pretty much makes taking pictures a moot point. Also, he would provide weird things like talking about the AIDS rate of certain neighborhoods in Manhattan. At one point, they take you out of the bus for 30 minutes to walk on the High Line, which wasn't noted on the tour description. Walking around at noon in the hot July sun was not what I booked the tour for.Additionally, when they take you to the World Trade Center Memorial, you are dumped off at a shopping mall for an hour on your own, instead of the lunch stop in Little Italy advertised on the tour. There was also no stop at Grant's Tomb like was advertised.Once you have wasted your hour at the mall (making it a 7 hour trip, not 8), they took us to the ferry dock for the cruise portion. We waited over 45 minutes only to be told the ferry was full and none of the passengers on the two buses could board and would have to wait over an hour for another boat. After several dozen of the passengers complained, the tour guide for the second bus (not the one I was on) finally called the home office and had the buses brought back to continue the uptown portion of the tour, although quite a few people left in disgust before they could get back. When we boarded, the tour of Uptown continued, and they said they would drop off anyone who wanted at 30 Rock, and take the rest to the ferry terminal at a different dock for the 4pm cruise. When we got to 30 Rock, the bus driver refused to take anyone to the dock and we had to have him and the useless tour guide call the office again to make them keep their word. We finally got to the dock in time for the last boat of the day, and after the cruise the tour guide had to borrow a passenger’s phone (he apparently left his at home, he said) to call the home office again to arrange for a bus to take us back to our drop off point. Overall, I was highly disappointed and would not use or recommend this company or the tour. The communication was awful from the start, and the tour guides and bus driver had to be shamed into trying to resolve the issues and providing even a hint of customer service. If I was in a position to ask for my money back, I would.
Reply From The Gray Line Team:
We sincerely apologize for your experience with us in New York. This is absolutely not the standard that Gray Line expects of its destinations, and we will be reaching out to our local group to discuss the professionalism and helpfulness of the drivers and guides, as well as ensure that we have accurate information regarding pick up/drop off locations and correct itineraries. We pride ourselves on being organized and efficient, and regret to hear that you did not experience this. We appreciate your honest feedback.

The bus tour with Debbie as our guide went well. The boat ride was disappointing because the boat was full when our group went aboard There was not any place left to sit or even a railing to hold on to.

Such a well thought out itinerary, plenty of W/C opportunities and elevators/escalators in many locations. Tour Guide very knowledgable, very friendly and thorough, explaining everything multiple times so all could hear and constantly ensuring his party are Safe,Together and Informed of what’s forthcoming. It was my First Day (31.05.18) activity to help me get my Barings around the city and it really helped us. Definitely Recommend, seen parts of the city that we wouldn’t of went on our own, Learnt things that we would of found out and took pictures of parts of the city that are up and coming so when our kids return we can see the difference. Major Thanks to GreyLine and the Tour Guide (who I never found out his name)
